Ghost of Tsushima - Shuten-dōji

By Harvey Bickett

One of the games that drove me to change to a Playstation was Ghost of Tsushima. As a huge history buff and a fan of Japan, Japanese Culture and Kurosawa’s Samurai films I knew that this was a game I needed to play. Shuten-dōji is a character I created to be the final boss at the end of a set of missions that Jin could undertake to receive a special sword set called Onikiri which translates to Demon Slasher. Fitting as the Oni and Yokai references that appear in the game turn out to be little more than humans. In the same way Shuten-dōji is not the legendary demon king from Japanese folklore but rather a powerful crime boss in the sake trade.
